I hope there is a literary section here so that our literary greats and near greats can share their creative works.

How about that?

I therefore encourage our members to post their works (poems or short storie) here.

If they have an on-going poem or short story and if they want our members to comment on them for the improvement of their works, they may post them here too.

I am sure there are many of us here who have the talents and the skills who can share their creative gifts to their fellow UPV people.

Who knows we might help produce more UPV Palanca awardees.

The works maybe in English, Filipino, Bisaya (Cebuano), Hiligaynon, Aklanon, Kinaray-a or in any other Philippine languages.

If the work is not in English or in Filipino, it would be very helpful if it has English or Filipino translation so that the general public can understand our work/s.

But if that is not possible, it would still be OK. confused

Who will start the ball rolling?

Very nice idea! I like writing too but only when I really feel passionate about the topic. In that way, the words would just flow... smile

Let's hope literary people find their way here. This is a good place to have their works critiqued and for them to showcase their talent.

Do you have any luwa?
Luwa is one the best literary traditions we have in Western Visayas.
Generally each luwa is made up of four lines with any of the following rhyme scheme: aaaa, aabb, abab, abcd. The subject is varied from love to environment to anything under the sun.

Here is one example of a luwa:

Nagkadto ako sa banwa,
Nakadakop ako sang sawa;
Ginbaligwa ko kay Lola,
Si Lolo ang nagsumsuman sa iya.---Ni Maeara

Please post your luwa here.

And be a part in the revival of this literary tradition.

Kon Gauean

Kon gauean
Ag indi kita nakit-an,
Gahumbak-humbak
Rang dughan.

Kung Umuulan

Kung umuulan
At hindi kita masilayan,
Ang dibdib ko'y
Uumaindayog.

Lupa

Ni Ma. Milagros C. Geremia-Lachica
Isinalin sa Filipino ni Melchor F. Cichon

Magbubungkal
Magtatanim
Mag-aabuno
Maghihilamon
Mag-aani
Maglilinas
Magpapahangin
Magbibilad
Magtatahip
Magsasaing
Para malagyan ang
Pinggan ni Nonoy.

Ngunit kanin pa lang ito
Hindi pa kasama nito
Kung papaanong dumakot
Ng dalampasigan upang gumawa
Ng asin na pang-ulam
At sa pinggan ni Nonoy
Muling magkikita
Ang lupa at dalampasigan.
