Hello, everyone. Bloggers Circle is a new organization I've thought up. Basically it's a hobby/interest group that aims to foster camaraderie and friendship among our yupinyan bloggers. If anyone would like to join, feel free to post your thoughts about this new org. I'll gather your impressions, and make the org plans better. Cheesy

I used to snob the Blog phenomenon. Suddenly, I learned about Google Adsense. BOOM! There I go, blogging hours away! I'm even tempted to go blogging full time. Nah.. there are better things in life than earning money while you sleep.

This is a very good idea Wely. I'm not sure how many bloggers you can gather, but count me in! In case we don't have enough members, we can make it a webmasters circle. However, blogging is really different. Wink

by the way.

bloggers circle sounds a bit generic... kinda lame.

what better name could we replace it with?
my suggestion: netpeers

what's yours?

Bloggers[ ' ?] Circle is fine with me. No need to explain that it's a group of blogger. Netpeers is also ok, but it's more general ain't it?

I still have to think of a better name. If we extend beyond bloggers, we could call it Webmasters' Club!

Right now, I'm struggling with Joomla. It's supposed to be easy to configure but it's not! Anyone on this?

I'm really sorry but I can't think of a decent and catchy name for now so I'll just skip it in the meantime. Anyway, I've already heard of Joomla but I really don't know what it is. What is it? ashamed

anyway, i thought netpeers would be better, y'know, to accommodate more members. i mean, some students do love reading blogs though they dont have one themselves. so like the name says, we're net peers. seeing each others through a different/unique light in the internet.

Thanks for the link.
Okay... so we can have members who don't have blogs themselves? Like, they just read and comment? Perhaps we need a tentative vision, mission, etc. so we know where we're going. smile I'd say:
to promote blogging as a means of expression (to UPV students?)
to educate (UPV students?) about blogging
to promote online advertising as an alternative source of income Grin
to create an active online community of (UPV?) bloggers
to create group blogs with worthwhile content
etc

Bloggers' Circle/Netpeers, go, go, go! cheer cheer cheer cheer

Joomla is a kind of Content Management System (CMS) that allows people without any knowledge of hml to create dynamic, and sometimes complex, websites.

Joomla is proving to be complicated for me. It really needs time for you to master. I was hoping it would be as easy to use as Wordpress, but it's not! confused

Here's the Joomla site I'm playing around with: nstp.freehostia.com

yup. joomla is quite tedious. every part of the site has to be properly um, tweaked. that's why most developers find it "powerful". wordpress, on the other hand is much more easy. (it automatically creates the menu in your sidebar, etc.)

Ahh.. So that's what CMS is. Content Management System. ashamed It's in my Control Panel all along and I've always been intrigued of what it means ever since I found it there. whistle

Right now I'm using CuteNews in my blog. It's my first time using one of the so-called CMS and I find it convenient. I believe it's the easier compared to Joomla and argh, WordPress. How could you say that WP is very simple when its CSS is like, a kilometer long! I'm extremely frustrated over that thing. Nevertheless, I still look forward to learning it in the future.

cool

Actually, my technique is - not to bother with the CSS! haha
I haven't tried CuteNews but I still think Wordpress is waaaaaaaaaaaay more convenient compared to Joomla. It does take time to get used to though. As for Joomla, I guess I don't really need all its features. I have limited time to make the site so I'll stick with Wordpress. Besides, Andreas has released a really cool template series. cool
