Iloilo City drivers group may seek minimum fare rollback

Members of the Iloilo City Alliance of Drivers Association (ICADA) said that they are prepared to file a petition that would seek a rollback in the minimum fare for public jeepneys in Iloilo.

The public transport group in the city said this would be possible should pump prices of petroleum products continue its downward trend.

The group may seek a minimum fare reduction of P0.50 to Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board.

The group said that the possible fare reduction would reduce the costs of the riding public while maintaining a viable income for drivers.

The public transport sector was reportedly hit hard by the high prices of gasoline and diesel in the city.

Some oil firms have implemented this week a P1 per liter reduction in pump prices of petroleunm products. With a report from Regi Adosto, ABS-CBN Iloilo

Iloilo seems to be getting fond of fireworks. These ones are for the 9th Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines (ATOP) National Convention last Friday.

Ayala to establish an IT park in Iloilo City

October 7, 2008 1:45 pm by pna
ILOILO CITY, Oct. 7 – Giant Ayala Group of Companies is set to establish an Information Technology Park here that will host business process outsourcing companies (BPOs) that would want to invest in the city.

This was confirmed by Mayor Jerry P. Treñas recently adding that Ayala will either buy or lease a two-hectare lot in Barangay San Rafael in Mandurriao district for its proposed four-storey building.

The mayor said that what is keeping BPOs away from investing in Iloilo City is the lack of infrastructure that will support them.

“Iloilo City needs investments on IT building,” the mayor said.

Iloilo City has been identified as one of the next wave cities in the country.

Just recently a company that signifies to also invest here cited the city’s excellent universities as a rich source of the talented pool of graduates and the on-going construction of the coal-fired power plant as an engine to the continuing economic growth of Iloilo. (PNA)
